nestR

nestR is an R package offering functions to detect breeding attempts and probabilistically estimate their outcome from avian GPS telemetry data.

Breeding birds exhibit recursive movement patterns to and from their nest location. This signal can be detected from movement trajectories at the typical spatio-temporal resolution of GPS data and used to pinpoint the location of a nest. Then, patterns of nest revisitation can be used to estimate whether the attempt was carried out successfully or failed, after accounting for imperfect detection of nest visits.
